When we downsized from our house to an apartment a few years ago, I insisted on taking as much of my old things with me as I could. Our children were critical. Why not throw out the old stuff and buy everything new? But my husband understood how I felt. I'm attached to my furniture and my dishes, nicks and knacks. I've also kept the same husband for 48 yrs.
